Code proposals

Agenda:

Appendix Z

  • “Appendix Z_redline vs 2017 App Z_revision20220324.docx”
    • Updated proposal being discussed – lots of comments in the margin to guide discussion
  • Draft updated to remove zEPI references and insert structure based on ASHRAE Appendix G with Addendum CH changes
  • Questions for discussion (others included in document as comments):
    • Current draft cites Site Energy, but should confirm preferred metric (Site/Source/Carbon)
    • How much can we reference 4.2.1.1 for equation and Appendix G for guidance, or do we need to recreate language in App Z too?
    • BPFs taken from NBI Zero Energy Ready report, but need to be confirmed
      • Do they need updating to reflect an all electric baseline?
    • Thermal limits are stricken in this draft.  Do we want to brainstorm alternative metrics or thresholds?

Appendix G

  • Discarding energy cost (Performance Cost Index - PCIt) structure.  Previous discussion felt that Site and Carbon were essentially the same with mandatory electrification for new construction, and that buildings only have control over what happens after the meter.  Site Energy used.
    • Are we OK with using Site instead of Site and Carbon, or only Carbon?
    • PNNL offered to assist with determining customized BPFs for DC incorporating electric baseline and other changes to prescriptive pathway.  Proposal reflects Addendum CH numbers but will need to be amended later by PNNL.
  • Addendum CH BPFs – how compare to 2017 DC ECC-C?
    • Paula Zimmin at SWA analysis
    • Michelle Christopher at Paladino analysis?
  • Core and Shell building difficulty in meeting Performance Pathway given limited control.  Does this need specific pathway?
    • Any examples?
