Public Bodies--General
The Office of Open Government ensures that the District’s boards, commissions, and other public bodies are complying with the Open Meetings Act (OMA). The OMA sets out specific requirements of public bodies to properly notice and provide detailed records of their meetings, whether they take official action through voting, or are simply discussing and deliberating. Public bodies vary in size and complexity, and are usually established by statute or Mayor's Order. The Mayor's Office of Talent and Appointments (MOTA) administers the recruitment and vetting of most of the executive branch’s public body members and provides a useful Dashboard with current information on groups’ operational status.
